Kube Studios London

Kube Studios London

Kube Studios have studios throughout the country but our flagship studio is located in London's Fitzrovia. The studios comprise state of the art cameras and lighting systems and are staffed by industry professionals. We are located minutes from Oxford Circus and Oxford Street's incredible shopping opportunities. Whether you are considering booking in for a family shoot, a make over, or a modelling portfolio shoot, there are some fundamentals that you should consider before your arrival.

Believe it or not, many customers arrive at the studios unsure of what they want to leave with! The first thing to consider is what you want to be photographed wearing. This leads us to think about what the purpose of the photography shoot is. Are you intending to use it for professional purposes, or just looking for a great memento of a point in your life. If you are intending on making a fashion modelling portfolio, your outfit choices are extremely important.

Kube Studios
Kube Studios
A Kube Studios fashion modelling portfolio shoot is generally booked for a morning or an afternoon and allows enough time for several outfit changes and looks. You would do well to plan these things well before hand and even bring examples from magazines or the internet to guide the photographers on what you are after. Every modelling portfolio needs some staple shots. These are full body and head shots and these will always be prioritised for each look.

How many photos does a portfolio contain? This depends. If you put yourself in the position of a busy modelling scout or agency executive, how many photos from each candidate would you review before making a decision? The consensus seems to be that between 8 and 20 shots is ideal, any more and it won't be looked at, any fewer and they will ask questions. This being said, if you only have 4 fantastic shots, and 8 that aren't bad, just use the 4. A little bit of gold is worth more than a lot of silver! Kube Studios: Comfort Eating

Kube Studios Lifestyle Tips

At this time of year especially, comfort eating is a strong urge for all of us. The early evenings and dark, cold mornings set our bodies craving fast sugars and stodgy calories. Here are some tips from Kube Studios to help minimise the cravings and maintain control over your weight and figure.

The first thing to tell yourself is to be realistic. We're not talking about avoiding all comfort foods, but reducing the cravings that we get at certain times of the day, often when we don't need to eat like before bed or when at rest. Having a fibre filled diet is great for this. It releases energy slowly all the way through the digestive system rather than giving short bursts, such as we get from sugar. The constant up and down of blood sugar levels causes mayhem in our systems and in the long term can cause type 2 diabetes. Fiber helps you stay feeling full and releases enough power to keep you going during extended periods between meals.

Making sure you eat regularly is great for the brain. If your eating habits are irregular your body doesn't know when to expect more energy and will crave junk. It's actually proven that if we don't eat breakfast, by the end of the day we are more likely to eat junk food. Eating regularly helps your body control sugar levels which in turn controls the likelihood it is to lay down fat.

Kube Studios endorse healthy diets and hope that these little lifestyle tips are useful. To find out more about our photography studios watch this video.

Being in town day to day can get tiring when it comes to eating out. There are so many options, especially with Soho a stones throw away. In this post we're taking a look at fast food, and how to eat cheap without piling on the pounds.

Choose an entree salad with grilled chicken, shrimp or vegetables with fat-free or low-fat dressing on the side, rather than regular salad dressing. Regular dressing can have 100 to 200 calories a packet. Watch out for high-calorie salads, such as those with deep-fried shells or those topped with breaded chicken or other fried toppings. Also, skip extras, such as cheese, bacon bits and croutons. These quickly increase your calorie count. If you leave out the dressing, you can find salads for around 300 calories at most fast-food chains.

Hard to manage hair?

Kube Studios
Kube Studios

There are various reasons as to why women with afro hair choose not to wear their natural hair out. We've heard numerous excuses!!  However, the real reason why Black women do not wear their hair out could simply be that they sometimes don’t know how to maintain it.
The truth is that Afro hair texture requires a lot of time, patience and maintenance. Black people hairs is naturally dry and prone to breakage therefore it needs moisturizing in order maintain the length. For example this account to why some parents would rather have their children’s hair relaxed at a young age rather than dedicate time to taking care of the natural hair.
The faster way of dealing with Afro hair that makes it manageable to deal with is by braiding it, treating it with chemicals or weaving. Doing these may make your hair easier to manage but if it is done wrongly or excessively it can cause more damage to the hair roots which can cause hair loss, scalp burn etc. For more Kube Studios hair tips click here!
Understanding Afro hair means you know what to do with it, apply right products to the hair, maintain it and exercise patience if you want the hair to grow to its full potential. Kube Studios has some of the best hair stylists in Britain so when you visit our studio you'll be pampered by experienced and talented artists. How to Pose for a Modelling Shoot from Kube Studios

How to Pose for a Modelling Shoot from Kube Studios

Don't fiddle with things

Women who wear heavy eye makeup and dark lipstick can look clownish. If you want to wear red lipstick, keep the rest of your makeup light. If you are playing up the eyes, keep your mouth light with a gloss or light lip color that doesn't stand out.

To get nude lips, which look great with smoky eyes, cover lips with concealer or foundation before applying gloss? This renders lips practically colorless.

Lipstick can act as a blush

But never use blush as a lipstick. To use lipstick as a blush, dab a few dots on the apples of your cheeks and blend, blend, blend. It helps to have moisturized skin first so the lipstick blends well.
The older you are, the "creamier" your lips should look
As we age, our lips thin out. Therefore, you should avoid matte and gloss and stick with a creamy lipstick. Also, watch out for dark lipsticks.

Heal -- don't throw out -- a broken lipstick

If your lipstick breaks off, simply take off the broken portion with a tissue, and then slowly wave a lit match under the broken piece of lipstick. When it's melted a bit, put it back on the base, swivel it down and put it in the fridge -- uncovered -- for 30 minutes.

Lipstick done?

You might notice there's still a bit of lipstick down in the tube. Scrape out the last bits with a cotton swap or orange stick and mix it with Vaseline or lip gloss in a lipstick palette. Use a lip brush to apply.

Top 5 Inspirational Teens

Top 5 Inspirational Teens

For many teen models having someone who inspires them is important. It gives teenage models a benchmark to measure themselves against and shows them how successful they can be with hard work and determination. If you are interested in teen modelling visit the Kube Studios website now. Kube Studios is not a modelling agency.

Kiernan Shipka

Mad Men’s Sally Draper is the sassiest character on TV, all thanks to the young Kiernan Shipka. The actress is just 14 years old and has been playing Don Draper’s daughter since she was six and a half. She’s still not allowed to watch her own show. Shipka also nails her red carpet appearances, with a quirky but age-appropriate style that gets her raves from the fashionable set.

Ionut Budisteanu

This young scientist’s design for a low cost, self-driving car won first place and $75,000 at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for high school students in May. The prototype signals the potential of manufacturing autonomous driving vehicles to the masses, costing only $4,000 to build as opposed to Google’s much more expensive version of the self-driving car. The 19 year old used artificial intelligence technology and a mounted camera on the car to identify traffic lanes, curbs, cars and even people.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber is still 19 years old and has become an industry to himself, valued by Forbes at over $58 million. He released his first single at age 15, and in 2010, he became the youngest solo male artist to hit #1 on Billboards Hot 100 since Stevie Wonder. The Canadian might not be in the US for much longer as a petition has been signed by nearly half a million Americans calling for his deportation.

Chloe Grace Moretz

Chloe Grace Moretz is a leading lady for the first time in Carrie, but the blood-drenched horror film is hardly this 16-year old’s first rodeo. The Atlanta native has had supporting roles in (500) Days of Summer and Hugo, and she’s an up-and-comer in the fashion world, too. Definitely one to watch out for in years to come.

Malala Yousafzai

Malala is known all over the world for the savage way she was treated by Muslim terrorists in Pakistan. She was shot in the head and neck in an assassination attempt by the Taliban on the bus home from school in Pakistan. Malala was a target because of her activism to better the education of girls under strict Muslim law. After luckily surviving the attack, the now-16-year-old didn’t hide in fear but strengthened her to continue fighting. “I speak for education of every child, in every corner of the world,” she said, and the world has been listening. This year she received the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought and a Clinton Global Citizen Award.

Designer Life Stories

Kube Studios Life Stories

Originally an illustrator for vogue magazine, upcoming designer David Longshaw has received global recognition for his contemporary clothing designs. His designs involve hand drawn patters, illustrations and stories being printed on to items such as dresses and jumpers. The simple designs are being noticed by bosses within the fashion industry and Elle editor in chief, Lorraine Candy has even described his designs to ‘have the potential for you to say that’s a David Longshaw dress’. The designs Longshaw prints are simply an expression of his imagination. Imagine wearing a story on a jumper! His designs often feature the same characters in different scenarios but none of his clothing has writing or narrative telling you what is happening in the scene, which allows you to interpret the item as you want to.. Making it different for every person.

Because he originally started off as an illustrator, Longshaw used printing on material as a way to present
His theme throughout his collections is the tale of ‘Maude’ and what she gets up to as a character, each item of clothing represents an activity or holiday she goes on and throughout the multiple collections, these change and other characters get introduced.

David Longshaws’ designs and modern approach to fashion have already gathered a huge following worldwide and in 2011 was name by Vogue as ‘a designer to watch’. Although his own label was officially launched in 2010, it will come as no surprise to Fashionista’s when he finally breaks in to the fashion world because it’s going to mark a change in fashion and design, as we all know it!

When he started designing, Longshaw was at university, but by the end of his degree he had compiled multiple collections and designs as well as gaining recognition from many art associations and achieving nominations from international award organisations.. Talk about going the extra mile!
